Moving Through and Moving On

Learn all your life. Learn from your failure. Learn from your successes. When you hit a spell of trouble ask, "What is it trying to teach me?" The lessons aren't always happy ones, but they keep coming. We learn from our jobs, from our friends and families. We learn by accepting the commitments of life, by playing the roles that life hands us (not necessarily the roles we would have chosen). We learn by growing older, by suffering, by loving, by taking risks, by bearing with the things we can't change."-John Gardner

Blessings of Light and Love

"May the blessing of light be upon you,
Light on the outside,
Light on the inside.
With God's sunlight shining on you,
May your heart glow with warmth,
Like a turf fire that welcomes friends and strangers alike.
May the light of the Lord shine from your eyes,
Like a candle in the window,
Welcoming the weary traveller." -Irish Blessing

The Family

Aria's graduation , Smith College Northampton Massachusetts May 2006:Mike, Grandma Lucy, Aria, Grandpa Nate, Barb

This photograph captures such a happy moment for three generations. Mike's parents were able to join us in Massachusetts for Aria's college graduation in 2006. This past week Aria flew to the States from Italy for her five year reunion.

I'm so excited that we will be together with Aria and Mike's parents to have some family time together once again.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Los Angeles Angels vs. the Cleveland Indians-May 8, 2011

Yesterday we had alot of fun at a good old fashioned baseball game. We got there early (the first 20,000 guests received Mother's Day hats!)

We were treated to box seats from Mike's company, woohoo this was fun.

Mike was a happy camper...

and I was too!

A great vantage point to watch the game and to enjoy lots of snacks.

Everyone made big ice cream sundaes! Yum!

In the end the Angels won the game, and I went home a winner too.

Here's my complimentary "Mother's Day" hat!

What a nice day we all had!

Happy Mother's Day

On this special day that we honor all mothers I am remembering my dear mom Ruth, who taught me so much and loved all her children with such an open heart.

Thinking of you today mom and also thinking of my two daughters, Aria and Athena who picked me to be their mom.
Lucky me!
