It's been an exciting time watching the World Series games : "Dodgers" vs "NYC Yankees". Go Dodgers, Go Blue! Great win.

finally stopped at the Moonbridge Donut store on the corner of Spring
and Palo Verde. (They opened in February of this year). It had caught my
eye many times because of the long lines I’ve seen and I’ve heard
people mention their great weekly themed donuts. I went in and had a
nice chat with the wonderful young owner Annabelle. She’s carrying on a
long family tradition of making donuts. Her grandparents immigrated from
Cambodia and after working at Winchells donuts and learning
the trade they opened “Simone’s “ donuts in Long Beach. Though Simone’s
has since changed owners Annabelle wanted to open a donut store but
with a new twist. She has clever themes monthly with new designs weekly.
She lets people know about the themes like “Studio Ghibli” (a famous
Japanese animation studio) and this months “Halloween” donuts on
instagram . Besides being the sweetest young woman Annabelle is so
creative and her donuts are cleverly, artistically delicious!

She’ll be “Barbie” for a day when she passes out candy complete with a pink outfit and blonde wig!

I saw a video the other day of someone that is bedridden saying she wished she could go outside. She was urging those that were able to walk to go outside for her. She said appreciate this simple ability that most take for granted. This morning I took that walk in the brisk, cool morning air. I took that walk for her and for myself. Do yourselves a favor and do something good for you. I am imagining that even the simple act of taking deep breaths are hard for some. My heart is grateful for all the little things we are able to do with ease.
Today our friends Mary and David invited us along with my sister Jocelyn and BIL Vicente and my SIL Barb and brother Randy to a fund raiser for the Pasadena Buddhist temple. It’s one of the places that Mike and I attend the annual summer obon festival and dance. Today was lunch and Bingo games. I was so happy to bump into my high school friend Kathy. We haven’t seen each other for decades. It was such fun seeing her and planning on getting together to really catch up. Also I was introduced to Wade Utsunomiya a dear childhood friend of my late cousin Jan. As we talked I also found out I knew his cousins Lynn and Joy through youth groups at a local church (Evergreen Baptist)when I was in high school. Such great reconnections with other friends Akemi and Naomi. The bingo games were fun and raffle prizes too. There were winners at our table! It was a great day with family and friends!
