"It's Not Just About A Book" Club

My friend Lynda wanted to start a book club and she asked 9 of her women friends to join.  I am so glad I was one of them. This week we talked about the first book we read together: "The Art of Tidying Up" by Marie Kondo.

  Lots of  fun conversations.  

 We all shared our thoughts on getting organized, purging many unnecessary items we have collected and in general tips from the book on tidying up our lives.

Since "It's Not Just About A Book" club when Lynda spearheads a gathering, there was delicious food
and drink involved

 along with lots of camaraderie, laughs and great conversation.

A Special Italian Treat in Redondo Beach

 My friend Daiana originally from Italy,  had suggested that we meet up at a newly opened Italian Coffee bar/cafe in Redondo Beach called "Roman Aroma".

She said it was a wonderful place, truly authentic with really good
coffee, pastries, tramezzini (sandwiches), gelato and foccacia.  

Who could resist that? 

So we gathered friends this week and visited Roman Aroma.  

The  sleek, and beautifully designed interior of this cafe/bar is simply grand. 

 

The charming owner Francesco Martone is from Rome and his
"Roman Aroma" truly brings the essence and flavor of his beloved country to the South Bay for all of us to enjoy. 

  
Everything I tried here was an authentic taste of Italy. So-oo good I can hardly wait to go back for more. Try these cream filled Cannoli. I am in love with them!

Savory foccacia with mushroom, eggplant and various toppings are served.

A variety of sweets to enjoy including tiramisu, gelato and other daily pastry surprises.

They also sell many wonderful imported Italian food products.

 Lots of wonderful seating on the outdoor patio and there is plenty of free parking behind the building.

Service was attentive.

A lovely way to relax with friends.

A Birthday Dinner at Vino e Cucina

We celebrated Aria's birthday at our local italian trattoria, "Vino e Cucina" on Feb. 9, 2016.

 Roasted and marinated eggplant and filled with fresh ricotta cheese, sundried tomatoes, topped with fresh tomatoes bruschetta sauce, drizzled with e.v.o.o and vinegar.

 Lightly fried baby artichokes stuffed with marscapone and goat cheese drizzled with e.v.o.o
and balsalmic vinegar over fresh arugula

 Athena calls from Australia to wish Aria a Happy Birthday.

 When we arrived home flowers for Aria from Daniele had been delivered.
