Don't You Worry, Some Day Your Ship Will Come In

"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavour by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. " - Washington Irving (1783-1859)

  1. That's a great ME card! Makes my heart ache a little...no one loves you like your mom!

Here's something for you Barb - not the dog, the flash cards!

  2. Laurie, I know what you feel about the heartache. You must have been blessed with a wonderful mom. I was very lucky too. They're still with us. Thank you for the gift. I loved the bliss photo.

  3. Wonderfully evocative posting, Barb. I am always struck by the 'mother power'...if 'we' only knew the potential a mother would have on her children ... I am always struck by everyone's responses - whether it be mass emails or blog postings - about 'who you miss most?' or 'the biggest influence in your life?' More than a majority list 'mom'. I lost mine to a liver disease when I was sixteen. Now in my 50's, I still think of her daily. Thanks for the reminder .. Menehune

  4. Menehune, You're so right. Mother's have such a powerful role in shaping their children's lives. It really pulled at my heart strings to read you lost your mom at such a young age. Thank you for your thoughts. Have a wonderful day.

  8. Barb, this is one of the nicest posts that I have read, and it is certainly very true. My mother has been gone for 10 years, but she is always with me in my heart!
