Hi Barb, I love the photos you post. Deep and permanent change doesn't have to come through travel only. Alot of people think that people don't change. I am sure that people do. Change is the only constant in life. I loved the enchanted tree too.
Such a thoughtful quotation. Some, I'm sure, do travel without changing...just speed through the sights without absorbing their context. But I think more of us are changed through travel. I know that my first trip to Europe was transforming in the sense of opening heart and mind to differences of culture, in a way that can't happen simply from reading a guidebook or studying a textbook.
But I think the experience of travel can also be metaphoric...my faith journey is certainly one of deep and permanent change. Very unsettling, but in a good way because being unsettled is what causes me to move forward.
Thanks for this thought provoking post, Barb! Blessings to you and yours :)
I believe in love and kindness, family first, deep meaningful friendships, counting one's blessings and giving to others what you yourself need. I strive to see life as a glass half full. I am very grateful for the life I have and all the wonderful people that make this grand adventure so worthwhile.
