My friend Maria and I tried out the new “Sunny side Restaurant “ in Seal Beach. It happens to be a converted Denny’s restaurant and has a bright, beautiful and welcoming interior plus the name is so cute. We learned that this is a Greek family owned restaurant. The menu for breakfast and lunch is large. They have a nice selection of in house baked pastries. I had read that their key lime pie was great as well as their brown butter chocolate chip cookies and their special cinnamon buns. It was a difficult decision but I chose the cinnamon bun to go. The waitress Valerie said heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds which I did. It was decadent. Since I’m normally not a big breakfast person and their breakfast plates look big I asked Valerie if they happened to serve biscuits and gravy which my friend Cindy makes. I don’t make this but I love them. She said it’s not on the menu but we can make them. So that’s what i ordered. It was wonderful to catch up with Maria and to spend some quality one on one time with her.
