Me, Mike and Gary
I wanted to talk a bit about the sweetest man Gary A. Smith who is the husband of one of our friends that we visited this weekend in Palm Springs. While everyone else attended without our spouses Gary along with Mike opened their home to us as the meet up place to unpack a lifetime of memories. When I sat with him at dinner on Sunday night I thanked him for being so understanding and patient all weekend while we 5 reminisced about old times. No he said I thank all of you for bringing so much joy and love and fond memories to us. It has been wonderful to see Mike with his dear friends! I had so much fun talking with Gary who is such an interesting and accomplished film historian. Their home is filled with a great library of books,DVDs and film memorabilia. Gary has authored 10 books on films with a special nod to “Horror”. I admitted to him I was scared and scarred by “The Attack of the Crab Monsters” that I saw as a child.
His face lit up and he said I loved that movie as he guided me to a framed poster of that film. His most recent book was published last month “The Play’s The Thing”. Gary is such an interesting, reserved and sweet individual. He was happy to give us all the time and space to be our silly selves a we slipped back in time to relive our youthful memories! I’ve posted pictures of his books below the book jackets and titles are great!
