I attended a fun concert at the Carpenter center on Sunday. The 5 man band that performed is called “Live from Laurel Canyon”. They are a group that focuses on music of the 60’s and 70’s . Today they chronicled the stories and music of John Lennon and Harry Nilsson.
In 1973, years after the Beatles had broken up, Lennon found himself in Los Angeles. There he spent the next 18 months making music and mischief with musician Harry Nilsson. This band explores this 18 month period in L.A. that Lennon refers to as “The Lost weekend ”. Along with playing the music of Lennon and Nilsson the lead singer shared insight into the lives of these musicians and stories of their musical collaborations plus their wild and crazy antics at places like The Troubadour
and The Whiskey a go go. (Places i also frequented in those years). It was a great afternoon filled with throwback memories as we listened to songs of our youth. For a couple of brief hours we were all transported back to our younger selves of 1973!
My room mate Dana and me Aspen Colorado 1973.
Music is magical and transformative in that way. Great to be “young again” with Lynda, Kathy, Karen, Donna and Shelly.
Thank you to Maria for giving me her ticket.
