We had our annual celebration for my sister in law Barb  and my best friend Mary's birthdays.

 We started with Italian Spritz's

and appetizers
The World Series between the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers was televised

I tried some new recipes for dinner:

Silver Palate Scalloped potatoes

Ina Garten's hard cider marinated Pork Tenderloin served with three different condiments

before and after photos of Thomas Keller's Ratatouille

My sister Jocelyn brought a beautiful salad

Of course there was cake for the birthday girls!

and presents too

and the usual significant others...

Mary and David

Barb and Randy

Jocelyn and Vicente

Mike and Barb

Always wonderful to celebrate birthdays together!
Happy Birthday wishes to Mary and Barb!

" Not Just About A Book Club" October 23, 2018

The book selected was "We Were The Lucky Ones" by Georgia Hunter.

We were  hosted by our ever thoughtful Queen of Everything member, Lynda.

Upon entering her home we were festively greeted by the spirit of Halloween.

 Her table was hauntingly adorable...

The merriment begins...

Food and drinks were amazing!

We were missing several of our book members but through a new phone app called "Marco Polo" we were able to have a video exchange with our friend  Judy who is cruising in Spain.

So much fun to have her with us in this way.

and we all said "Hi Judy" on our video back to her!

Lynda led a very interesting discussion which was highlighted by xerox photographs and short bios of the family members whose lives and stories had become the basis for the book.

It was an intense read but we unanimously gave it a thumbs up. An amazing documentation of one families intense journey through the  horrors of the Holocaust era.

Discussion of the book was followed by a wonderful apple bundt cake made by Donna.  Thank you Donna.  It was fantastic!

Our hearty thank you to our hostess  with the mostest Lynda.
It was another great book club gathering making each of us ever thankful for the gift of our friendships!
