Day 6 Bend, Oregon

Saturday started with blueberry pancakes then a long hike along the river at Rimrock Trail (many people walking their dogs here) so pretty. Then a short drive to the very last Blockbuster video on the planet. My sister in laws bought souvenirs. We had lunch at Sparrows Bakery in the cutest area called “Northwest Crossing”. (Tip : if you go to Sparrow’s bakery get an “Ocean cinnamon bun” they are great!”) There was a great consignment store there and many nice cafes and shops. Now home relaxing. Making great progress on the puzzle. Drinking beer and likely chocolate dipped strawberries for dessert tonight.

Day 5 Bend, Oregon

We did a great hike this morning at Smith Rock. Really stunning site. If you enjoy scenic views of deep river canyons or rock climbing, Smith Rock State Park is the place for you. There are several thousand climbs in the park.

Day 4 Bend, Oregon

 Mike and I are early risers. We can see the sun rise from our room. This kind of peace is a grand renewal. Feeling very grateful. Puzzle coming along slowly.

 

This morning we explored the Newberry National Volcanic Monument ( the ancient lava river tube cave. )Admission is free with your National parks card. You will need to rent a powerful hand held flashlight lantern for $5.00. Once you descend the stair case the inside of the cave is pitch black. Takes about 2 hours to tour. Well worth your time.

 

 

 

 
Late afternoon the brothers and my sister in law Mary hiked around the river to the other side. Mike called me when they were across from our place so we waved at the group while Linda and I relaxed merrily working on the jigsaw puzzle. When Mike returned he did a Costco run and made us dinner. Baked mahi mahi, roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon and roasted potatoes with garlic. Today in Australia it was Jude’s 2nd birthday so we sang to him when we face timed. Happy Birthday Jude!
