Not Just About A Book Club Reads "The Invention of Wings"

Our book club  met today for a wonderful book club luncheon and birthday celebration for January birthday babes Sherri, Karen and Barb.

We hadn't seen each other since November and it was a day of lively conversations about the book "The Invention of Wings" by Sue Monk Kidd as well as a lot of holiday catch up .

This book was unanimously loved. The themes include the brave fight for freedom, finding your voice, loss and sorrow, the injustice of inequality, the fight to make the world a better place, complicated relationships, friendship, sisters, family, determination, loyalty, hope daring and empowerment." A lot of things to draw the reader into the story line. The story takes place in Charleston (three of the group members will tour Charleston and Savannah in March) and so our hostess Lynda planned a southern menu: mixed greens with pecans, buttermilk dressing, fried chicken, cornbread muffins, hot apple fritters, old fashion pimento dip and crackers, and mint juleps.

Lots of gifts for everyone not just the birthday gals

and a beautiful birthday cake (thank you  Donna).

A huge thank you to Lynda  for hosting.
