Not Just About A Book Club Ready "JAMES"

Our book club met today and discussed “James”* by Percival Everett. It is a retelling of Mark Twain’s novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884) from the perspective of Jim, an enslaved man who is one of the principal characters in Twain’s classic story. This is a thoughtfully written novel and heartfelt as we are witness through James’ words to the cruelties of enslavement and servitude and what it means to long for and fight through unimaginable adversity for freedom.

It was a great and most thoughtful discussion led by our hostesses Donna and Lynda.
