On September 22nd I met my friend Isa at Aroma di Roma cafe.
Aroma di Roma is a local coffee hang out on 2nd street in Belmont Shore. It’s my friend Isa's daily go to. It’s like her coffee version of “Cheers” because everyone there knows her name! So when I heard yesterday that it was closing next Sunday, I contacted Isa to meet up there. We did so this morning.
It was happy/sad to see so many of the staff and clients come up to Isa and commiserate and say where will you go now for morning coffee? Isa was introducing me to all her friends. One man in particular was just delightful. He beamed and said “I’m Howard, guess how old I am?” I guessed 60 and I added you’re very handsome! He beamed even brighter and said “I’m 88!”
I said “wow what’s your secret?” This is what he said “I walk 4 miles every day, I stay positive, I avoid negativity and I surround myself with people who are kind. I pay it forward.” I looked at him and said “what a pleasure to meet you Howard!” And it truly was.
