Baking Apple Rustica Reminded me of A Jr. High School Cooking Fiasco

A funny not so funny thing I did. I baked another rustic apple tart this morning for a luncheon pot luck today. My trial for this recipe was successful earlier in the week. This morning when I took the tart out of the oven it looked just like the other day but it had dripped around the parchment paper underneath and it was stuck when I tried to remove it from the baking pan. It was a big struggle. The result is kinda a mess. Hoping it will taste good anyway. Below today’s flop and the other … beginners luck!
Omg! I just figured out what I did wrong. In posting this I had a thought as to why the tart stuck so bad to the bottom. I just checked and I mistakenly used wax paper instead of parchment paper! What a stupid mistake!

A great success the first time!

The parchment paper snafu. I used wax paper.  Did not come off the pan in one piece!

Yesterday mornings cooking fiasco with wax paper reminded me of another cooking experience when I was around Sofia’s age.
This is the text I sent my daughter:
“It reminds me of my jr high home economics experience baking cookies for pta. The teacher was strict and stressed that you had to use exact measurements and if you did it correctly you’d have the perfect amount of dough for two dozen cookies. These were to be served to the pta! My cooking partner and I ran out of dough so we thought we’d get into trouble if we didn’t produce 2 dozen. To avoid that we rolled up small balls of wax paper And coated the outside with cookie dough. They looked passable. Never heard about how the pta meeting went! Ai yi yiii. I was 11 don’t hate me!”
