I want to talk about the day I met my bff Mary. We were in the third grade of elementary school. I spotted her sitting alone across the playground on a bench. It was recess and every day my friend Sharon and I would put on plays. Sharon liked to sing and I was the announcer. When I saw Mary sitting by herself something in me said “I want that girl to be my friend!” So I went up to her, introduced myself and invited her to come watch our play. Ever since that day in the 3rd grade we have been best friends. Last night the birthday party I hosted was the annual birthday dinner for Mary and my sister Jocelyn and my dear sister in law Barb. Mary brought funny Frankenstein hats for the guys and princess crowns for the girls . The memories each of the couples share are countless, heartfelt and precious. The party was great, not for anything I did, but because we cherish any opportunity to be with each other. Two years ago we all traveled to Japan along with Mary, her husband David and their son Bryan and his wife Emily. Also my brother’s two sons Tim, Kevin and daughter in law Pauline . We are planning our next trip with the same group for 2026! “Alaska or Bust!”
