Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love it for many reasons. The fact that I know people all over are coming together to be with friends and family.
That together we are unified in gratitude and thankfulness. It’s a day that is steeped in tradition with special family dishes. I think about my mom and dad cooking all day for our celebratory meal. I loved the smells of the turkey baking and watching mom make her cornbread stuffing. Auntie Helen (the talented family florist) would bring a lovely centerpiece. Grandma who usually would cook our dinners could sit back and watch the cooking frenzy. After dinner some cousins would come by bringing desserts. It always was a special holiday. My brother Randy and my sister Jocelyn and I took this picture together this Thanksgiving. We feel our parents presence when we are together always but especially on Thanksgiving.
