Tuesday November 18th New Orleans Day 2

Tuesday Nov. 18th we walked over 21,000 steps today. I booked a walking historic tour of the charming Garden District. It was just us and another couple lasting two hours starting at the Lafayette cemetery #1 and walking throughout the surrounding area by the famed Commanders Palace restaurant.

The elegant mansions featuring beautiful ironwork fences. We learned about leading architects of the 1850’s and interesting facts about home design, layout and also the rich snd famous who lived in these mansions. After that fun window shopping on the retro row of Magazine street.

 Lunch at Joey K's Kitchen

We took public transportation all day including the St. Charles streetcar. The afternoon took us to the huge beautiful City park.

The sculpture garden was filled with great pieces. The Cafe du Monde in city park is great and far less filled than in the French quarter we had fun watching them make the beignets.

I made a poor choice for a disappointing dinner at a dive bar gumbo and etouffe we strolled along Royal street  on the way home.

A really fun day but we really are pooped now!
