Monday was a successful travel day with no delays. We flew from Long Beach to Austin with a seamless connection there to New Orleans.
(Big sigh of relief no cancellations or delays). After we checked in we were off to dinner. I have not been here for ten years and am happy to take in this fun city for the first time with Mike. Mike loves oysters so he was very happy with a loaded oyster po boy and oyster stew.
We took the obligatory walk on Bourbon street and stopped off at a pretty courtyard and listened to music while we ate our first beignets. They were as good as I remembered. First rule when you eat them is don’t wear black as you get covered with powdered sugar! I didn’t follow the rule!
Then a stop at the beautiful carousel bar at the lovely Hotel Monteleone. The lobby is decorated for Christmas and looks so beautiful.
Aria and Daniele and the grandkids join us here on Thursday. We will babysit while they present papers at a conference. Looking forward to being with them soon.
