Thanksgiving November 27, 2014

We ate, and drank and laughed all day. We ate and drank and laughed all night.  Another wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.  There is a very unifying thought that across the country and even across continents so many celebrate this day by being with loved ones, eating very similar meals and acknowledging and being thankful for our many blessings in life.  This is how we celebrated Thanksgiving 2014:

A New Thanksgiving Tradition

Yesterday Mike sent this email to the kids. A new Thanksigiving tradition has been born in our family.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Barb took the attached picture last year.  I bought the shirt at Mark's for a couple of dollars.  I decided to imitate Rock, but take it to the next level.  I printed this picture and I am going to take it to our dinner, and take the same picture with the same shirt while holding last year's picture.  I am going to do this every year for as long as possible.

It was in the 80's today.  Does not seem right.

Tomorrow  I am making my garlic mashed potatoes.  As Grandpa Nate would say, it will be a feeding frenzy, or maybe better yet:
mangiare e dormire

After I load up on tryptophan and fall asleep during the Lakers game,  I will be dreaming we are all together.

And then I will have a turkey sandwich.

Lemon Drops on the Rocks

For a grown-up lemonade, turn to this vodka-spiked version.

• SERVINGS: 12
 
• YIELD: MAKES 6 CUPS

Directions: Combine vodka, lemon juice, and sugar, stirring occasionally until sugar dissolves.
Transfer to an ice filled pitcher, add lemon slices, and serve.

INGREDIENTS

• 3 cups vodka
• 2 1/4 cups fresh lemon juice (from 10 to 12 lemons)
• 1/2 cup plus 3 tablespoons superfine sugar
• Ice, for serving
• Thin lemon slices, halved, for garnish
