A good morning when the rain is falling. Cup of tea in hand. Listening to Kenny g . Feeling quiet and grateful. May your heart feel the same.
“When I pray, I always thank Mother Nature for all the beauty in the world. It’s about having an attitude of gratitude.” -M. Kerr
All art arises out of gratitude, a deep pervasive feeling that you are glad something exists outside yourself, that something can complete you. –Dorothy Koppelman
"Your mind is a magnet.
If you think of a blessing,
you attract a blessing,
and if you think of problems you
attract problems."
"Potatoes make french fries, chips,
and vodka. It's like the other vegetables
aren't even trying. "
"Wait for someone
who could be the
moon for you. Just
as strong, just as
steady, illuminating
changes and seas
and blooming
flowers and summer
nights. They'd wait
for you in the
dark. They'd dance
around the sun.
They'd receive
your primal howls
your secrets, your
dreams, and shifting
tides.
Wait for the moon.
Wait for nothing less
than what steals
your breath. "
" We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring
will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first
time." -T.S. Elliot

The book for November was written by one of our favorite authors Lisa See. The title of the book is "Lady Tan's Circle of Women".
"According to Confucius, “an educated woman is a worthless woman,”
but Tan Yunxian—born into an elite family, yet haunted by death,
separations, and loneliness—is being raised by her grandparents to be of
use. Her grandmother is one of only a handful of female doctors in
China, and she teaches Yunxian the pillars of Chinese medicine, the Four
Examinations—looking, listening, touching, and asking—something a man
can never do with a female patient.
A captivating story of women helping each other, Lady Tan’s Circle of Women is
a triumphant reimagining of the life of one person who was remarkable
in the Ming dynasty and would be considered remarkable today."
A big thank you to Donna who arranged for a great venue to discuss this book which was well received by everyone.
Again thank you to our host Donna and co- host Lynda
Sofia and Aria attended a book signing for Barbara and Jenna Bush's newest book "Love Comes First." It was held on the SMU campus at the George W. Bush Presidential Library. Laura Bush was in attendance too. It happened also to be her birthday. I asked was there cake and they responded "No cake but lots of desserts!" I recalled the time Aria wrote to me from Italy in 2008. She had been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to work in Sardinia for a year and had received an invitation along with four other Fulbright recipients to meet with Laura Bush in Rome at the Center for International Studies. Today was one of those full circle moments, mothers and daughters meeting for the first time and again.
I know I’m late to this party but I’m totally addicted to this series! Writing is great, loving the brilliant repartee. Lewis Litt cracks me up! Where have I been?
For some time now we’ve been catching our rinse water from dish washing in a big pot and we water the garden with it. It’s amazing how much water goes down the drain when you wash dishes. Because we water the garden with this daily run off we’ve gotton so many volunteer plants. Awhile ago we suddenly had a big leafy vine growing under our rose bushes. At first we thought it was squash but last week we discovered watermelons!
Cliff hanger ending...
Someone's heart is going to be broken. My advice: Have some chocolate cake ready!
