Trick or Treat A Little Confusing
"Halloween was confusing. All my life my parents told me "Never take candy from strangers!" And then they dressed me up and said "Go ask for candy!" I didn't know what to do. I'd knock on strangers doors and say "Trick or Treat!" - Rita Rudner

Happy Birthday Annette!
This past Sunday we were invited to celebrate our friend Annette's 60th Birthday! This party was hosted by Annette's husband George and her children and their family's. We have been friends with Annette and her family for over 25 years. Our children grew up with hers. We have celebrated all the big and little, sad and happy events of each other's lives. Together we co-led our daughters Jessica and Aria's Brownie and Girl scout troop meetings, went camping together, celebrated countless birthday's, graduations, and weddings. Now we take joy in our children's children as we both take on new roles as grandparents. It is wonderful to have such a long and wonderful friendship with each other. Annette we wish you a very happy 60th birthday and send you many wishes for joy throughout each coming year.

A Little Cooking Lesson
On Monday October 19th I invited two of my friends Mitra and Marion and my cousin Nancy to join me in a little cooking lesson. I set up everything to make Vietnamese summer rolls. An easy dish which can be made simply by folding your choice of cut up veges and meat or shrimp in a thin rice sheet. In addition I served two dipping sauces, one sweet spicy sauce and one peanut sauce and a platter of teriyaki chicken skewers. We had fun playing Mexican Train that night as it was the first time the three guests had played. Nancy made aprons for all the chefs and Marion made a delicious pineapple and peach cake for dessert. It was a fun night of cooking and games.

Flowers Everywhere-A Trip to The Los Angeles Flower Mart
I had a wonderful opportunity to visit the Flower Mart in downtown Los Angeles in the wee hours of the morning on October 2nd. My friend Sherri was shopping for flowers for a bridal shower she was designing. She picked me up at 4 a.m. and we were off to shop for beautiful blooms.
Such an array of flowers to choose from.
I am always blown away with the beauty of these flowers
Every color and hue and variation
A portion of Sherri's purchases on this cart below
After leaving the flower mart the sun was coming up. We had a nice breakfast in Long Beach
I bought a few blooms to brighten up my home.
Here is a small grouping of photos from the bridal shower.
Sherri did such a lovely job transforming the bouquets of flowers into a magical setting for the shower.

A Girl's Night In
AKA Girl's Just Wanna Have Fun
On Friday October 16th I hosted a Mexican Train party for five of my friends. We started the night with margaritas and ended the night with limoncello. In between there was lots of food, laughter and fun. Another unusally warm summer like night in the Fall.
Lynda and Jo
Me and Jo "Here's to great friends!"
Lynda, Maria, Karen, Jo and Sherrie
Now that everyone's here let's play "Mexican Train!"
Only one problem...does anyone remember how to play this game?
I don't think the rules matter any more. Let's just have another margarita shall we?
Ooops, maybe not!
Better have dinner instead!
Desserts time with eclairs and a
fruit tart
End of the night toasts with Limoncello
My lovely friends are so very thoughtful and generous. Everyone came bearing gifts. So sweet and dear.
Thanks to all my wonderful girl pals.
You are all amazing!
