Summer Light
"And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer."

The Quintessential Summer Experience in Los Angeles
Keep Calm and Dream of Italy
One day earlier this month I got together with my friend Mitra to help her plan part of her month long trip to Italy this September.
It was such a delightful morning. Mitra had prepared a lovely breakfast for us.
Tea and goodies and Italy-some of my most favorite things.

Reunions
About once a year I get together with some of my retired teacher friends from Carver Elementary. Many of them were teachers of my girls long ago. Later I was able to teach at Carver along side these wonderful women. It's always nice to catch up and see what they are up to and how their families are blossoming.
L-R Marie V. (Aria's 3rd grade teacher and Athena's 4th grade teacher) Julie M. (both girls elementary school counselor), Hiroko E. (Aria's 2nd grade teacher).
I taught along side these women (left of me Sharon P. taught 5th grade) (right of me my dear friend Tracy M. often subbed for my Pre-K Special Ed. Class)

Many Wonderful Worlds

they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.”

36th Anniversary Celebration
The Teahouse of the August Moon 1956
Remembering my Grandma Miyoshi "Jingu"* who began her movie career in her mid 60's when she moved from Texas to California. One of her famous roles was the old woman on top of the jeep in Teahouse of the August Moon. As children watching this movie in the darkness of a theater we all yelled out when she appeared on the big silver screen, "There's GRANDMA!"
" Pain make man think. Thought make man wise. Wisdom make life endurable." Sakini (played by Marlon Brando in Teahouse of the August Moon".
*
Miyoshi Jingu was born on July 1, 1893 in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. She was an actress, known for Dreams of Glass (1970), Walk Don't Run (1966) The Manchurian Candidate (1962) and One-Eyed Jacks (1961) Teahouse of the August Moon (1956). She died on January 19, 1969 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

By The Bay, By The Bay, By The Beautiful Bay
In the summer time we like to go to the bay. We sit and read and watch the activities on the water. It's a very relaxing time. We call it "our summer spot".

All That Mattered
"At these times, the things that troubled her seemed far away and unimportant: all that mattered was the hum of the bees and the chirp of birdsong, the way the sun gleamed on the edge of a blue wildflower, the distant bleat and clink of grazing goats."
―Alison Croggon, The Naming

In Silence
"It was rapture enough just to sit there beside him in silence, alone in the summer night in the white splendor of moonshine, with the wind blowing down on them out of the pine woods."

Numbered Days of Summer
"The crickets felt it was their duty to warn everybody that summertime cannot last for ever. Even on the most beautiful days in the whole year – the days when summer is changing into autumn – the crickets spread the rumor of sadness and change."

For Approval
My friend Jerry posted this on his facebook page. I thought the comments that followed between he and Rose were hilarious. I asked Jerry for permission to repost. Here is his photo with comments.
Rose: Is that my vacation request waiting for your approval? Lol
Jerry: Your entire life is a vacation. Denied. :=)
Rose: Obviously your still dreaming.
Jerry: No vacation for those who do not know the difference between your and you're!
PS. Rose is Jerry's sister. Gotta love sibling chatter.
