Waiting For Spring

photo via Flickr

"March is a month of considerable frustration - it is so near spring and yet across a great deal of the country the weather is still so violent and changeable that outdoor activity in our yards seems light years away." - Thalassa Cruso

My Fun Week With Linda

Spent a great week beginning March 20th with my sister-in-law who was visiting with us. Here's a little peek at how we spent our time sight-seeing, eating, shopping and being silly.

Tracy's Spring Tea 2012

My dear friend Tracy hosts an annual tea party. This year it was held Saturday March 24th. Everything is beautifully executed with thoughtfulness and care.

We all appreciate Tracy so much! In addition to being a dear friend she has a keen talent for hosting the most memorable parties.

She really sets a lovely table for tea.

All her goodies are as delicious as they are pretty to look at.

Lots of chilled drinks to choose from as well as pots of steeping hot tea on the tables.

Guests are busy popping corks...woohoo let the festivities begin.

Luckily the sun is shining and the day is beautiful.

All the guests have arrived!

Place cards designate our seats and each setting has a lovely handmade shortbread cookie with a butterfly and a chocolate bunny wrapped in cellophane.

Tracy's heart of gold is the true cog in the wheel of our friendships. Her friendship is a gift to each of us.

Three college room-mates...oh the stories they could tell.

What a delightful way to spend a Spring afternoon! Thank you Tracy for hosting such a wonderful event!

A March Afternoon

"The afternoon is bright,
with spring in the air,
a mild March afternoon,
with the breath of April stirring,
I am alone in the quiet patio
looking for some old untried illusion
-some shadow on the whiteness of the wall
some memory asleep
on the stone rim of the fountain,
perhaps in the air
the light swish of some trailing gown."
- Antonio Machado, 1875-1939 Selected Poems, #3, Translated by Alan S. Trueblood

Just One Of Those Days

March 4, 2012 at the Stahl Case Study House #22 Hollywood, California

"It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot
and the wind blows cold:
when it is summer in the light,
and winter in the shade."
- Charles Dickens

Being Brave

Death pushed me to the edge. Nowhere to back off. And to the shame of my fears, I danced with abandon in his face. I never danced as free. And Death backed off, the way dark backs off a sudden burst of flame. Now there's nothing left, but to keep dancing. It is the way I would have chosen had I been born three times as brave.~Mark Nepo

Nurture and Transform

"A woman is the full circle.
Within her is the power to create,
nurture,
and transform."
