We sat at Marine stadium tonight and listened to the first of the summer concerts by the Long Beach Municipal band. A nice way to end a hot summer day.

Summer Heat Arrives

The days of summer have arrived. Temperatures rise quickly. I like to walk early in the morning. I love the feel of the cool morning air and the solitude and quiet helps me to begin my day with an inner calm and sense of gratitude for all things. Today the sky started out grey but by the end of my walk it was beginning to be a beautiful blue. Wishing each of you a very good day.

"I honor the place in you in which
the entire universe dwells.
I honor the place in you which is of love
of truth, of light, and of peace.
When you are in that place in you and
I am am in that place in me,
we are one."

My Grandson Jude (2 years old) And Lulu

I love keeping track of what Jude is doing. One of his favorite people is his honorary auntie “Lulu” (Louella).

The other day she made him Tiger cookies.

He also has some cool hamburger shoes!

Still in love with his trains “Thomas the train is still popular ! And newest quotes from Jude:

Mama running late again

Mmm, very gooood baby-cino

Jude with his frothy milk aka Baby-cino.

To the waitress as we’re leaving cafe: “have a beautiful day”
To another child who was climbing onto furniture at music class: “no, no, no” (said whilst wagging his finger 😂)
Even from way down under this lil boy keeps me smiling.

Reading at the Bay

We often spend the afternoon reading at the bay. It is always beautiful with the water glittering like scattered diamonds floating on the surface.

Just A Normal Day

Mike made a great pizza with mushrooms, black olives and onions. Another hot afternoon especially with the oven on. Sitting outside now. Cool breeze. Perfect.

Air Fried Cauliflower With General Tsao's Sauce

Bend, Oregon has a lot of breweries and we found consistently really good food. At one place my sister in law  Mary  ordered General Tsao’s fried cauliflower appetizer off the menu. She said they have had great success making this at home in the air fryer. Yesterday at Trader Joe’s I happened to see a bottle of General Tsao’s sauce. So I bought it with some cauliflower. I air fried the cut up cauliflower for 15 minutes. Meanwhile I sautéed a sliced onion then added the sauce and the fried cauliflower. It was really good. We ate it with steamed rice. I looked up the recipe for the sauce and it looks easy to make so I’ll make my own next time but this T.J. Brand is tasty and would be good to have on hand.

A ReUnion With Ruth

I had a lovely day out with my friend visiting from Minnesota, Ruth. We both were in the graduate school of Design (fiber arts) at UCLA. Ruth did her undergrad studies at Scripps College. It was fun to reminisce and to catch up. I enjoyed meeting Ruth’s brother in law Jonathan. Lunch overlooking the blue Pacific at the ever enjoyable Long Beach museum’s “Claire’s” restaurant.

Day 7 Bend, Oregon "Happy Father's Day!"

Sunday Father’s Day Mike was up hours before anyone and sending me the first photos of his hike. We had a nice breakfast of eggs and lox and bagels. A long day of hiking beginning with the most surprising “Lava flow “ landscape. Then a bus ride to the top of the volcanic rim for a vast view. After that a drive to Obsidian flow trail with fields of obsidian. There were patches of snow on the ground. A late afternoon meal to celebrate the three Cabot dads at The Sun River brewery. Now home to finish the puzzle!

Last night and we finish the puzzle! Yippee!
