When Sofia was two all she wanted to be for
Halloween was a gorilla. Now that she is four she went through a series
of Disney characters and finally chose Princess Jasmine. Wish I could be
with her tomorrow. She's excited about trick or treating though I feel
she'd be a lot less chilly in that gorillas outfit!
And on the other side of the world
Athena and her dog Sam had fun passing out candy until Sam got tired
And then there's this Halloween memory:
There once long ago was an actress named
Carmen Miranda. As a child I would marvel at her costumes and these big
headdresses made of fruit and flowers. She wore colorful outfits and tons
of jewelry. She was full of life and would dance and sing so joyfully. I
wanted to be her and so I was on several Halloweens. I also dressed my
girls as her even though most people had never known who they were
supposed to be. I'm going to have to bring that headdress back for Sofia
one of these years.

Sunrise at the Boadwalk
On the morning of October 26th Sherri and I walked on the boardwalk on the Peninsula to
watch the sunrise. It was beautiful to be on the beach in the early
morning hours. So peaceful. We then worked on the jigsaw puzzle and
Sherri's daughter Haley and grand-daughter Magnolia dropped by so we all
walked over to the bay to play in the water. A great morning.

Girl's Night In at the Beach House
On Wednesday October 25th I enjoyed a "girls night in" at the beach. It was a wonderful retreat. The
thing that one learns is there is quite a bit of difference between a
slumber party at age 12 and the age that we are now. We are still
recounting things "our mother's have said" but we can't pull an all
nighter and most of us are ready to call it a night at 10:00! Still we
laughed and ate goodies (bring on the ice cream, brownies, hot fudge and
yes pass the whipped cream!) and we still are wowed by a beautiful
sunset. Thank you Sherri for hosting such a great evening of fun and to Kathy, Jo, Judy, Maria and Karen
for all the fun company. Special thanks to Kathy who told us such funny
stories about her mom and falling in love. (Well some things never get
old!)
