The Meaning of the Universe, Sunflowers, Stardust and Friendship

We received an impromptu invitation yesterday to kick off the 4th of July weekend at the home of our friends Anne and Bob who live in Newport Beach on the peninsula.

Our mutual friend Rob was visiting from San Francisco. We had not seen any of them since covid hit in 2020. It was so lovely to sit with them and catch up and talk of things that ranged from Einstein's theories to sunflowers to all of us being made of stardust! Sunflowers abound in their atrium and front yard.

People in the neighborhood know this house so well. Painters paint their sunflower garden and local ceramic artists decorate their pots and plates with these garden flowers.

Their home is filled with light and so much love.

We sipped on gin and tonics

and walked in their beautiful neighborhood admiring gardens and homes and the water on the bay.

We ended the day at a pizzeria that formerly was a gas station.

We had a great time sharing pizzas, salads and dessert.

A great pizza with carmelized onion, different types of mushrooms and marscapone cheese.

I only took one picture of the food. It was all so good I forgot about taking photos.
a pensive Rob thinks about how to honestly explain his opinion of the macha tea creme brulee...

We were happy to meet up with Anne and Bob's   daughter Jessica and son in law Mike.  They get the "cutest newlywed couple" award!

Thank you to one of the nicest couples we know.  Anne and Bob such a pleasure  to be able to spend some time with you both again.

It was one of those fortunate days when one feels they are living the lyrics to a song

"We are stardust, we are golden
We are billion-year-old carbon
And we've got to get ourselves
Back to the garden."
