Our "Not just about a book" club met for breakfast at the newly opened
"Lou and Mike's cafe" this morning to discuss Lisa See's "Island of Sea
Women". Lou and Mike's is owned by the same people that owned "The
Rivers End" cafe in Seal Beach. The menu is very similar. It's a nice
quiet space during the week serving only breakfast and lunch. Weekends
are busier. We all enjoyed the book about the Fierce female Korean
divers of Jeju islands and the dramatic history that shaped their
lives. Many of us had attended the lecture on the research and writing
process of this book by the author Lisa See. A fascinating, often
heart-breaking look at friendship and forgiveness.
