We had a nice evening at home last night celebrating Mike's birthday. We
started with gin and tonics while we wrapped Vietnamese shrimp spring
rolls. He was able to talk to both daughters and granddaughter Sofia
which were the best gifts he could receive. He loves rhubarb pie so I
preordered one from Polly's pies and he loved it. He opened his gifts.
Aria, Daniele and Sofia gave him a biography on Oliver Sachs, one of
Mike's favorite authors and I gave him another book "Christ
stopped at Eboli" and a tshirt featuring his favorite thrill ride at
Euclid park an amusement center which doesn't exist anymore. Athena sent
a lovely painting she did of Mike herding goats at Chianti Cashmere Farm in Italy. We ended the night eating pie and ice cream and watching the
Netflix series "Fleabag". Mike also read everyone's birthday wishes on
Facebook. I printed them out for him. He was very touched by all your
comments so thank you for your nice thoughts.
I believe in love and kindness, family first, deep meaningful friendships, counting one's blessings and giving to others what you yourself need. I strive to see life as a glass half full. I am very grateful for the life I have and all the wonderful people that make this grand adventure so worthwhile.
