It is now Wednesday April 9th in Australia having lost a day in travel and being a day ahead of the states. We arrived after an on off changing departure delay. Flight was long but we had our whole four seat row to ourselves. I had a gin and tonic with dinner which was served past midnight! The G and T, helpful! Quantas is a very good airline. The service is old school very enthusiastic helpful friendly staff. Snacks, Kit Kat bars and drinks available all during flight in open galleys. Again helpful! I watched the first season of White Lotus and half the second season in Italy. Customs and security clearance was a breeze. Mat picked us up with Julian by 10:00 am and we were greeted by Athena and Jude at their home in Austinmer an hour south of Sydney. This is a very quaint tiny beach town with charming cafes and stores. Think Laguna beach in the 1950’s but smaller. The long stretches of beaches and ocean pools are spectacular. Our airbnb is about an easy 10 minute walk to the beach and from there a 15 minute walk to their house. We arrived to see Athena and Jude around 11:00 and played with our grand Dog Sam and the boys. Athena made a beautiful green salad and fruit salad for lunch and we ate on the veranda. We checked in to Airbnb at 3:00. We all walked from the rental to a big park 2 minutes away. It’s open and lovely. We walked a few minutes to the beach access from the park but it's a fast highway and they told us to walk ten minutes along the pavement to a safer crossing with lights. We walked back to house and relaxed. Returned to their house at 5:00. We ate Indian take out for dinner. We returned home soon after. Today we woke at 3:00 am and will try to go back to bed. Great to have our own place to retire to. The boys are adorable. Its wonderful to be with all if them. Julian will be 2 in June and Jude will be 5 same month. All for now.
Our Airbnb is lovely. The bottom of a large White House. Our apartment is on the same level as the garage.
