Today my friend Tracy and I had a fun day touring the 60th Pasadena Showcase House of Design. The multi room estate sits on 5 acres of land in San Marino very close to the Langham Hotel. The approximately 15,000 square foot residence and carriage house was decorated and transformed by a multitude of talented designers and craftsmen. Always a treat to tour grand estates in the Pasadena area.

I met an interesting woman named Meredith Strauss who was working one of the boutique booths. There was something about her that I was drawn to and I said to her “By any chance are you a textile designer and she said “yes I got my degree from UCLA in Textile Design”. I said “I did too. Did you know Bernard Kester, he was my advisor?” She said “He was my advisor too!” She graduated several years after me.
Turns out she was the owner of the booth of clothing she designs and manufactures in Uzbekistan. We chatted about funny things we had in common. It was a quirky kind of coincidence and a fun meeting. A totally wonderful day out with my ever charming friend Tracy.
