A Visit To Hannibal Missouri

On Sunday August 21st Aria suggested a little road trip to Hannibal Missouri. Hannibal is located about 96 miles south of Kirksville.  Before leaving we did a little marketing at Walmart. During this time there was a young filopino woman working in the produce section. She was very friendly and during the few minutes we were speaking we found out she owns an asian market in Kirksville called "Gemma's Market". This was a huge coincidence for us since Jocelyn and I had driven by Gemma's several times and noted we should stop and shop there.  Gemma said that after her shift at Walmart she goes to her store and opens for the rest of the day.  We said we would try to stop by.

Around 11:00 we started on our road trip to Hannibal which would take about an hour and half to arrive.
Perfect timing as Sofia was ready for her morning nap just as we started out.

Hannibal is a very cute town filled with lots of shops and fun restaurants. The day was clouding over and it was about to rain.

We visited a nice shop " The Nancy Lee Kaufman Gallery" filled with beautiful handwoven wearable art.

Here she is Nancy Lee Kaufman a weaver with many tales to tell from her decades of weaving adventures.

While we had a nice lunch stop it started to pour

Lots of interesting facades and many historical buildings.

Stolled to the Mississippi River and saw a huge Mark Twain River boat.

  Sofia had fun running around.

We had a great day.  Sofia again fell asleep on the way home.  We wondered whether the little asian market would still be open at 6:00 in the evening.  We decided to stop by to check and see. More on that in tomorrow's post.
