Making Chinese Dinner

One day I woke up craving chinese food. I am trying to use what we have on hand. I made a sweet n’ sour chicken (prepped And fried the chicken and made the sauce this morning).

Sauce was chucky pineapple, chunks of onion and bell pepper.

I cubed the chicken, dredged in cornstarch, egg dip and flour and fried for 3 minutes.

The chow Mein was using one bag of frozen yakisoba from Costco. It’s 3 minutes in the microwave then I sauté whatever extra vegetables I have, add the noodles and just a tablespoon or two of hoisin or whatever Asian sauce I have on hand. Combined the sauce with the chicken and served it with steamed rice. It worked.

This recipe for the sauce was: 1/2 c. white sugar, 1/4 c. brown sugar, 1/2 c. apple cider vinegar, 1/2 c. ketchup, 4 tsp. reduced soy sauce, 2 cloves garlic minced.  I would say that I will keep searching. this recipe was good but not great. Still searching.

Little Marlon

Yesterday my daughter  Aria sent me this picture of Rocco with the caption: “I sent him to preschool in his Marlon Brando outfit. “When I showed my sister Jocelyn she said: “Teach him to yell “STELLA!”

The Most Beautiful Jig Saw Puzzle I've Done

On Saturday we started the 1000 piece puzzle of  "Venetian Masks".

By Sunday evening 10:00 it was completed.

It was a challenging puzzle in that I approached it in a different way than my usual pattern. I first did the border and sorted in a basic color or pattern pile for the pieces.

Then I focused on doing one color or area with a specific pattern. This meant looking at the pieces carefully for subtle color or pattern groupings and then placing those pieces in place.

Once I had a small group together my husband would place that in the proper place on the table within the border. I normally don't look at the cover photo but this time I really needed to see how the image took shape.

The details were really beautiful with the ornate mask decorations and the detailed delicate designs.  This is the most beautiful puzzle I've ever done. It took us two days to finish this puzzle.

Bathroom Remodel Day 1

March 26, 2012 Charlie, Abel and Fernando arrived at 10:00 a.m. They proceeded to remove everything from the bathroom, toilet, fixtures sink and cabinets. They tested the toilet and it was plugged up. They removed the top of the linoleum flooring to reveal the base boards and determined there was no damage to any of the wood below.

They left about 2:00 and then Linda and I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and also Target to get towel holders 2 sizes, toilet paper holder, waste paper baskets and hooks for the door.

100th Day of School

100th day of school and Sofia is a “Rockin” granny.

On this day we also have lil Rocco “Rockin” his granny’s acorn hat.

I had to give it to him as it was too small and it kept popping off my head!

So much for the wisdom I sought with the Buddah’s acorn hat!
