Day 5 Cleveland Vacation

We had an amazing full day of activities today. We got up early to meet up with Jimmy M.  a life long family friend of Rock and the whole Cabot family. After a big breakfast of eggs, bacon, potatoes, biscuits gravy and pancakes we drove to Jimmy’s farm and picked up fish that he has caught for our dinner tonight.

After a great catch up conversation we visited Miller Nature preserve in Avon, Ohio.

From there we drove to the iconic Westside Market in Cleveland.  The West Side Market is the oldest operating indoor/outdoor market space in Cleveland, Ohio.It is located at the corner of West 25th Street and Lorain Avenue in the Ohio City neighborhood. On December 18, 1973, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

After the Westside market we toured bits of downtown Cleveland, the Flats area (Cuyahoga Valley is a neighborhood on the Central and South Side of Cleveland, Ohio, located along the Cuyahoga River. ) we then drove to the historic Old Italian neighborhood on west 69th street in an area called Battery park. For several blocks poles and fire hydrants and gates are marked with the colors of the Italian flag: red white and green. Grandma and Grandpa Costanzo and their 7 children (Mikes grandparents) lived on this street in the 1920’s -30’s before moving into the Lakewood area of Ohio.

We drove from there along Lake Erie by some older pretty neighborhood and ended our afternoon at Lakewood park. A bonus surprise is we witnessed a sweet proposal between a young couple there .

Ended the day with some great ice cream!
