Every year for my birthday, Valentine’s Day and our anniversary Mike makes me special cards. In many ways I would not call him a romantic but in small constant ways his gestures are. The running joke throughout the years while my daughters were growing up was they’d ask me on my birthday “How old are you?” My answer was always “39!”
In time they knew not to ask any more as the question had become irrelevant. Mike’s card this year is below. It raining on my birthday. I love it. I started the flip side of the Frank Lloyd Wright puzzle. We went to an afternoon matinee and saw “Hamnet” which I liked very much.
My request was Japanese food for dinner and we went to a favorite place Matsu.
we FaceTimed with my daughters and their families. The grandkids made me smile with their happy messages of good cheer. I feel very fortunate to have such good and kind friendships in my life.
"I rose to make the coffee. I walked to the door and paused.
When I looked back, I saw my life shining within every ordinary
thing. And I was seized by the same feeling i get when I see the
ocean-the feeling that it is all too much to behold, too beautiful,
too much to bear-and I was filled with an aching love for all of it...
and somehow nothing seemed more holy to me than just being there,
naturally myself, in the midst of it..." -Sue Monk Kidd
