Oscar night has always been a fun night in my life. Though I don’t see many movies in the theater these days I do still love and appreciate the glamour of movies, costumes, cinematography, set design, story telling , good acting and all the creativity that goes into movie making. We like to make a night out of this award ceremony. When I was growing up I watched the Oscars with my mom and sister. When my daughters were little we’d dress up and I would fix appetizers and the girls would have sparkling cider. It was always a celebration and of course lots of bling and sparkles and red lipstick. @. Today Aria texted and said the kids were excited about Oscar night. They remembered how Jocelyn and I were with them last year and got dressed up with them while their mom served delicious appetizers and drinks. They said they were dressing up again.
That made me laugh. I doubt that they watched much of the program but they face timed me and they looked very cute and toasted with their goblets of bubbly. The tradition still stands. Conan O’Brien made me laugh. The “In Memorium” was heart felt especially with tributes to Rob Reiner, his wife and Diane Keaton. I hope the magic of the cinema in theaters will last for many more years to come. There is something magical about being in a darkened theater and watching a good story being told on the big silver screen.
