A Day With Helen

We had a wonderful afternoon with Helen today.  (my mom's best friend)   We brought Hawaiian food, chicken Katsu, teriyaki beef and BBQ chicken and spam musubi, Chinese chicken salad and macaroni potato salad. Big chocolate cake for dessert. She ate it all and has a great appetite. We finished one jigsaw puzzle. We ended the day viewing a wonderful video Of old family photographs and historical San Francisco photos shot by her father a professional photographer in the early 1900's Bay Area. Helen is a true inspiration with such a great sense of humor and wonderful positive frame of mind for having been on this earth for 102 years!


 


 

 

 

 

 

 


 







The photo below  was taken of my moms best friend Helen 5 years ago at age 97. We had such a fun day in San Marino taking Helen out to lunch at Julienne's French cafe. Helen is now 102 and rarely ventures out to a restaurant. She is still very lucid and in great humor but is less steady on her feet.  We had planned on bringing lunch to Helen today and will be spending the day helping her with her jigsaw puzzle. She is an avid daily jigsaw puzzle fanatic. I grew up doing jigsaw puzzles at her house. So you see this is where I caught the puzzle bug! I told Helen just recently that Mike and I have been brushing up on our skills as we knew we'd be challenged to keep up with her today!
