"Our Not Just About A Book Club" breakfast was hosted by Sherri . As an added treat she had ordered the film based on this novel for us to watch. The film was made in 1992. We all agreed it was so interesting to watch the written words come to life on the screen and to see how well this translated from the book to a movie. Karen . (our resident retired high school AP English teacher) led a very interesting discussion about this story and the genre to which it belongs "Magical Realism". Sherri made a great chile relleno casserole and her fabulous potatoes. Everyone brought a little something to share including many types of "chocolate" desserts and bloody mary and mimosa drinks. A special birthday song was sung for our birthday gal Judy and we all enjoyed chocolate brownies made by Donna with cherry vanilla ice cream. All in all one of the best book club meetings of the year. Thank you Sherri for hosting and for Jo and Karen who suggested this wonderful, magical book.
